Time to Talk Day February 2015

What would you like to talk about today?

Chances are you’ll have at least one conversation about the weather. You might discuss something you saw on TV, or plans you have for the weekend.

All conversations foster connection, and there’s a place for small talk wherever you go.

But how about finding five minutes to talk about something meaningful? Why not start a conversation that really makes a difference?

Thursday 5th February 2015 is Time to Talk Day. Launched by anti-stigma campaign Time to Change, this is a day that’s dedicated to the power of chit-chat.

Because even a five minute conversation can make a difference to someone’s life.

If you can aim to engage in a five minute chat about mental health on 5/2/15, you will have achieved something.

What have you done lately to enhance your wellbeing? Why not share your tips with a friend?

If you’re at work, how about asking your team their opinion about ways of supporting mental wellbeing in the workplace?

Or, as a manager, maybe you’ve been worried about a member of staff but haven’t yet invited them to talk to you about what’s going on for them?

When you’re with family, how about checking in with your loved about how they’re REALLY feeling? Are there times they’ve struggled lately but didn’t say anything? What would enable them to seek your support next time?

Or maybe it’s you that’s been struggling? Now is the chance to seek out some supportive contact with the people who care about you most.

If you’re not feeling chatty, how about sending a text? You may know someone who would benefit from a thoughtful message.

Chatting on social media counts too – check out how to participate in the online chats organised by Time to Change on the website: http://www.time-to-change.org.uk/timetotalkday.

If you’re not sure where to start, here are some tips to get the conversation going: http://www.time-to-change.org.uk/talk-about-mental-health/tips

Whichever shape your conversation takes, this is a very good time to talk.
